The Reading Nook

When was the last time you read a good story … I mean, a really good story without an agenda, sex or vulgarity? I am willing to bet that it has been a long time. In this section, I will share some of my writings, which are not great, but they are mine, and I want to share them with all of you. Also, from time to time, I will also share interested articles and essays written by others that I find thought provoking. I may even use the article or essay to provoke some discussion because even in this section thinking matters.

Why am I doing this? Well, first, I want to push a new agenda, which is really nothing more than an older agenda. A story can still be a good story even if written by a mediocre writer (Yours truly), and reading is still enjoyable without all the smut and agendas. Two, reading is meant to edify and not to offend. There can be a story that entertains everyone regardless of one’s personal agenda or ideology. And, finally, I like to write and need more practice so by reading and commenting you will be doing me a favor.

What will you find here? Well, you will find short stories, essays and an article or two. I love to write short stories and have several that I am willing to share. If you have spent any time reading my blog then you already know I like to write mini-essays. Here, you will find actually essays, an academic article or two and maybe even ideas I am considering for future writing. I have several books in the works so I may even throw some ideas on this section and ask for your help. I would love your assistance and your thoughts on the writings I post here. After all, this is the way this site works, right?

Where will you find all of this? Well, for the time being, click on the category, For Your Reading Pleasure. I will post short stories, essays, articles and other articles and essays I find interesting under that category. You can find it in the category section on the left hand side bar on the home page. Please do me one favor; when you stop by and sample what is being offered, please comment but be respectful. You are free to disagree but please do so in a respectful thoughtful way. Hurling insults and vulgarity is the lowest form of thought and not welcome here.

I think you will enjoy this little breath of fresh air as we harken back to a time gone by with the hope of ushering a bit of the past back into the present. I look forward to connecting with each of you in The Reading Nook soon!
